In 2026, Radio ProDiaspora celebrates 17 years since its first broadcast. An age that, at first glance, may seem like just a number. But for those who live this project from within, for those who nourish it with time, soul, and faith, this number is a testimony. A proof that the things born from the heart do not fade — they grow, deepen, and become landmarks.
For me, as the editor of the program Emoții și Lumină, being part of this radio family is more than a collaboration. It is a calling. It is a way of staying close to Romania, even from here, in Australia, thousands of kilometers away. Since 2022, when I joined this noble project, I have felt that I am discovering meaning, belonging, and continuity.
When you live far from your homeland, the connection to the Romanian language becomes a golden thread. And Radio ProDiaspora is, for me, that thread that never breaks. Here, through broadcasts, spoken words, and through every listener who opens their heart, I feel that Romania is close to me. I feel that I am part of a community that recognizes itself, supports itself, and finds itself again.
In this anniversary year, the words of Mrs. Ecaterina Câmpean, the station’s director — words that have accompanied the radio’s journey from the very beginning — carry a special weight:
“On May 1, 2026, Radio ProDiaspora marks 17 years since its first broadcast. A number which, seen simply, may appear to be just a milestone in time. But behind it lies a living story, built from emotions, sacrifices, friendships, and the belief that beautiful things can exist without expecting anything in return.”
This vision has been at the foundation of the radio since the moment Ecaterina Câmpean and Robert Landmann, living in two different countries, decided to create a space where Romanians could find themselves. A space without scandal, without noise, without the spectacle of conflict. A space where calm, culture, and authentic values could be brought into the light.
This choice — so rare in the media world — remains today the signature of Radio ProDiaspora. A choice that defines all of us who are part of the team. Because here, success is not measured in numbers; it is measured in emotions, in the vibration of a voice that says: “We heard you. We felt you close.”
For me, this is the true gift of volunteering: the feeling that I belong to a family I can feel. A family united by the Romanian language, by longing, by identity.
Today, at 17 years of Radio ProDiaspora, I bow before those who built this path and those who carry it forward. I am grateful that I can contribute, with modesty and gratitude, to this story. And I feel, with complete sincerity, that Emoții și Lumină is also a program that carries light. A light that travels across oceans and reaches wherever it is needed.
Happy anniversary, Radio ProDiaspora. Happy anniversary to all who believe in the power of the word and in the beauty of giving without conditions.
